I don't have a basis for comparison, but there are a lot of close minded people here too. I don't know that TL's Rationaltist Group would go over well with the local madrassas.
I compare TN to other places I've lived: Madison, WI St. Louis, MO LA, CA There are close minded people everywhere, but there seems to be a very high concentration of them in the Knoxville area. I don't know if it's because of reglion, the Old Boy Network, or if it's just a Southern thing. Either way, I don't much care for it.
I have seen the future and it doesn't work.

Yeah, TL, Sandra Dee or Doris Day would be much more compatible with your sunny outlook.
