That specific picture is a joke. The attitude, however, is real. Native East Tennesseans seem to think that they are just somehow better than everyone else, and that East Tennessee is somehow better than everywhere else, and they take care of their own. They're superficially nice to people from exotic places like Lexington or Tullahoma but they won't extend any meaningful help to an outsider in their midst who needs help and they won't ever really be friends with outsiders. Your money is welcome here, but you aren't.
